The University of Bologna, Alma Mater Studiorum, was founded in 1088 and is considered to be the oldest university in Western Europe. Nowadays, it still remains one of the most important institutions of higher education in Europe.

University of Bologna is responsible for the coordination of CHANCE project and will also be involved in all work packages.

Valio Ltd (Helsinki, Finland) is the biggest dairy company in Finland, and has one of the largest research institutes of food industry in Finland. Valio has been at the forefront of European research and development of value-added and functional foods.

This is a bakery company in Hungary, having 5 places where baking bread and 82 franchise shops with under our flagship where we sell the products. More than 100 different goods in a daily delivery chain. 350 employees work in the company which has a lean organization and a family ownership. The company is 9 years old and the franchise chain covers the north-west side of the country and the capital Budapest. Past cooperation in 2009 with Hungarian projects where the company carried on some baking test with different raw materials, the aim is the most healthy final goods production.

STRAND is located in Novi Sad, Serbia. Its main business activities are trading livestock, meat production and meat processing.

FINS is an independent scientific institution founded by Government of province of Vojvodina, with intensive research activity at national and international level in development of food technologies and products and assessment of food quality and safety.

ZDRAVO is a modern fruit and vegetables processing enterprise founded in 2002. It is well recognized brand present on domestic markets and 30% of the production is exported to EU and Australian markets. A range of products involves fruit and vegetable juices, processed and fruit and vegetables, including organic line of products and some traditional alcoholic beverages.

The Institute of Food Research (IFR) is situated within the Norwich Research Park; together with the nearby University of East Anglia, John Innes Centre for Plant Science Research, the site possesses the largest number (>1000) of biological scientists in the UK and one of the largest in Europe. IFR provides the leading national resource for basic and strategic research on Food Safety, Quality and Nutrition.

LIETPACK was established in 1991. Today it is one of the leading producers of plastic film packaging materials in the Baltics.

The University of Leeds is one of the largest higher education institutions in the UK and a member of the Russell Group of research-intensive universities. The School of Food Science and Nutrition at the University of Leeds has strong research expertise and collaborates with leading organisations in nationally-, European- and industry- funded projects.

VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland is a state owned research organization. VTT research expertise are especially strong in plant material processing, enzymology of both hydrolytic and oxidative enzymes and fermentation food processing and in evaluating factors related to food choice.

University of Copenhagen's Faculty of Life Sciences is one of Europe's leading University environments in the areas of veterinary medicine, food, health, plants, biotechnology, natural resources, the environment and related academic areas. The University's Department of Food Science and the Deparment of Human Nutrition are both involved in CHANCE.

The Institute for Medical Research, Department for Nutrition and Metabolism is a leading research institute which conducts fundamental and applied research in the field of biomedicine and nutrition in Serbia and for the region of West Balkan countries.

Since 2007 the Department of Applied Biotechnology and Food Science focuses its research activities on developing industrial and ecological biotechnology procedures, profiling cereal proteins and vegetable proteins, as well as improving tests and analytical methodologies.

Vilnius University is involved in the CHANCE research activities aiming to find out overlapping interests of food chain actors, and to identify and develop a strategy to facilitate healthy diets.

CIRMMP (Consorzio Interuniversitario Risonanze Magnetiche di Metalloproteine Paramagnetiche) was founded in 1994 among the universities of Florence, Siena and Bologna to develop and coordinate resources in a scientific field of growing interest, the study of metalloproteins and metalloenzymes.

The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) is a business facilitator in Europe, removing trade barriers for European industry and consumers. Its mission is to foster the European economy in global trading, the welfare of European citizens and the environment. Through its services it provides a platform for the development of European Standards and other technical specifications.

The European Food Information Council (EUFIC) is dissemination leader in the CHANCE project. EUFIC has established itself as an important dissemination and RTD partner in several projects falling under the European Commission’s 6th and 7th Research Framework Programme.
